Background: Marburg 's disease is a rare demyelinating encephalomyelitis with brain lesions in the brainstem , and cervical spinal cord similar to Multiple Sclerosis ( MS), characterized by acute onset of rapid , aggressive progression and can lead to severe motor disabilities and unremitting and may lead the person to death.

Objectives: This paper is presenting a case study.

Methods: Patient man, 35 years old, married, 1 daughter, high school, admitted in a hospital in October/12 with sudden weakness and paralysis of the lower limbs and upper limbs, being stayed in the hospital for 3 months for diagnosis. Had limited motor skills with cognitive and mental changes, totally dependent on care, made use of gastrostomy, leaving high the hospital in January/13 with gastrostomy which remained until March/2013. These data were collected with the family, doctor and hospital report and the results of laboratory tests. Upon reaching the Institution of neurorehabilitation in March/13 neurological, speech therapy, physical therapy and psychological assessment was made. Patients with EDSS 8.5, wheelchair with cognitive impairment, confusion, muscle atrophy and abnormal speech. Accept then, speech therapy, physiotherapy and psychological care, including psychological care was extended to his wife. Due to gravity, the psychological support to the patient and family is essential.

Results: After five months of treatment, the patient showed significant clinical improvement had development of motor skills of upper and lower limbs, speech organs, with increasing independence for small tasks, clear verbal communication, lucid and expressing affection.

Conclusions: It is considered the seriousness of the case the importance of the multidisciplinary team in providing patient care and family.
